CENTRAL HUDSON RIP

Welcome to Central Hudson Research and Investigation into the Paranormal.  This organization is purely for the purpose of investigating reported paranormal activity, with open mindedness and an objective scientific approach.

Our intent is to have a diverse infrastructure, peopled by those possessing a variety of beliefs, talents, personalities and abilities.

As we evolve, certain people will become permanent members of the organization, and inevitably, certain people will not.   "Ghost hunting" can be an emotionally upsetting occupation, and if it is deemed that anyone is having a really negative experience, we would hope that they would excuse themselves voluntarily.  Also, we've done hours and hours of research, and intend to follow set rules and procedures, based on successful procedures followed by people with years of experience.

To begin with, those that have studied the paranormal have identified certain spirit entities.  On sort of "haunting" is simply an event that replays itself through time, a sort of video of a past event.  This is not a true spirit entity, merely a tear in the fabric of time.  Then we have the true "ghosts", which can be those that simply haunt and don't interact with people, and those that do; ghost being defined as the spirit of a once living human, pretty much manifesting the personalities they had when they were alive.  Then there are spirits of those that are not human, have never lived.  Many religions refer to these as demons, and they are not to be messed with.
Whatever these beings are, or if they are, it is our intent to observe and document; to learn.

Research will be done on all hunts prior to the actual event.  We will find out what the history is, to the best of our ability.  We will appoint someone in the group to be the archivist, to record all details of our ghost-hunting event.  Details that we'll want to record include who is participating, changes in temperature, weather, location, and date and time of any happenings that may take place - including who witnessed them.  When possible, we will to walk through the site beforehand to record the thoughts and the feelings that the participants may be getting from that particular site.

At the beginning and end of each investigation, a rite of invocation will be practiced.  We will ask for protection and peace upon entering.  Upon leaving a site, another invocation will be offered: that the spirits remain where they are when we leave.  Spirits respond to the religion they practiced when they were alive, so these invocations will be Christian in nature, as that is/was the dominant religion.  This practice also serves to calm and settle the hunters, creating the "calm" necessary to do this stuff.

There will be no use of "channeling" apparatus, such as ouiji boards.  Most demonic or evil hauntings start with a ouiji board, or creating a "door" to a place we don't want access to.  Nothing good ever came thru ouiji.  There will be no séances. We want to observe what's there, not conjure up something that doesn't belong.

If we are to believe these beings are what they seem, it follows that we are in what they consider to be their domain.  We are to behave respectfully.  We will announce why we are there, and our intentions.  Regardless of what resides where we go, invariably these will be places where people lived and people died, some tragically, some horribly.  We have to respect that, if nothing else.
